The Burdette Smith Group, P.C., had its beginnings on August 7, 1978. From Day One, their loyalty to clients and the principles of Trust, Commitment and Service defined their practice. Thirty years later many things have changed, but the commitment to trust and service remains intact.

Over the years, the firm has evolved and developed into The Burdette Smith Group, P.C.  Along the way, several accounting practices were successfully assimilated into BSG, and our practice has grown from the initial two-man firm into a full service accounting practice employing close to 30 individuals.

The contributions of many talented, loyal employees have been the backbone of the firm’s success. The longevity of our staff has always been a source of pride. At this 30th anniversary mark, the average tenure of a firm employee is six years. Notable among our long-term staff are Sue Ranck, Ann Roman, and Becky Bartholomae, the three of whom have a collective experience of 49 years with the firm.  On the other hand, six of our staff accountants were born after the firm was founded in 1978.
Accounting and financial reporting services have expanded in these 30 years to include financial planning, estate and trust management, not-for-profit specialties, advisory services, eldercare services, technology design and training. A full range of accounting and financial planning services are provided by the Burdette Smith Group, P.C. We have kept our practice on the forefront of developing technology and are currently expanding our electronic capabilities with the goal of attaining a totally “paperless” environment.

We are proud of our leadership in the region. In 2008, the Vienna Tysons Regional Chamber of Commerce named our firm “Business of the Year.” Twice before, the firm was named “Professional Business of the Year” by the Central Fairfax Chamber of Commerce. We have received peer review examinations yielding unqualified reports on the firm’s adherence to accounting standards for the past twenty years. We have provided financial support to scholarship funds for regional college students, and are an active member of the George Mason University Patriot Club.
