Manager
An applicant for the position of manager will have obtained a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field. The applicant will have obtained certification as a CPA or have equivalent relevant experience, as well as have a minimum of six years of experience in U.S. public accounting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understand generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), auditing standards and US tax law
- Demonstrate advanced level of understanding in accounting issues involving higher levels of judgment such as: priority for income taxes, revenue recognition, subsequent events, contingencies and industry specific procedures
- Know the basic provisions of Code of Conduct of the AICPA
- Aware of business trends that affect the accounting and tax profession
- Ability to review and provide feedback on work of other staff in a professional manner
- Demonstrate a rapport and good communication with clients
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to adhere to given budgets and time deadlines
- Motivates, develops and directs other staff as they work
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate proficiency in paperless engagement software and other technology embraced by the firm
Duties and Responsibilities
Managers are assigned to practice areas of tax, accounting support and/or assurance. Within a particular practice area, managers are expected to perform the following duties:
- Manage engagements from start to finish, including the planning and supervision of complete engagements and follow-up to ensure that deadlines are met
- Develop technical skills to perform effective review of engagements to ensure that relevant issues have been identified and resolved before reaching the Shareholder for final sign-off
- Identify planning & consulting opportunities, including coordination with client's other advisors
- Assume other administrative responsibilities to assist the Principals with the overall management of the Firm
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned engagements and communicate directly with clients and their advisors
- Proactively communicate with staff on status of projects and assistance needed
- Participate in training of new staff
- Work closely with the Administrative staff to plan timely delivery of returns
